Girls, for those of you who run?
My question is in regard to girls running apparel. For those of you who run that don’t wear form fitting shorts or pants, what don’t you like about them? What do you wear instead?
Also, I understand that during the winter some girls wear under armour pants under a pair of shorts when running. Does this serve a particular purpose? Or are there reasons for this?

I wear loose running shorts, they are very short, my cross country uniform is the same, very short nike shorts. They are cool and don’t restrict movement because they don’t touch the skin. They also have built in underwear which actually are very useful because they do not ride up (i do wear undies under my xc uniform though eww).
I know a lot of girls wear spandex under their running shorts because they prevent chaffing. They also wear them because they think the running shorts are too short (even though they wear jean shorts and skirts much shorter lol). I do wear them sometimes especially when we need to be identical on the xc team but they tend to be hot but they do keep you warmer in the fall. I don’t know anyone who runs with just spandex or compression shorts without shorts over them, people used to do this but now people don’t since it looks weird and most people aren’t thin enough for it to not look gross.
In the winter I wear underarmour pants, they are very expensive but worth the money. Mine were $100 but I’ve had them for 5 years and they make it possible to run in the winter. These are the warmest spandex pants you can get, the cheaper versions just aren’t the same. I have bought others and they tend to be either too warm or too cold or made out of fleece on the inside which gets gross. I wear running shorts over the pants just because I don’t want my butt hanging out. Some girls wear sweatpants or wind pants but these restrict movement and create drag so they slow you down and are only good for jogging.
