How Wet Clothing And Turnout Gear Can Present A Health Issue

Nobody likes to wear wet clothes, yet often times ski gear, hazmat suits, and turnout gear that have been exposed to water are still drying when it comes time to use them again. There are moments when this seems unavoidable. There are far more important reasons than mere discomfort to make certain your gear is dry before use. Because it holds more water vapor than the cold stuff, accelerating the rate of drying exponentially. And unlike hot air it doesn’t damage footbeds or degrade fabric. In fact our dryers offer the choice of warm or ambient air quite literally at the flick of a switch.

Just because a fabric feels dry to the touch doesn’t mean that water molecules aren’t still bonded to the microscopic fibers. Average room temperature air does not provide enough energy to effectively break this bond between water and fiber in a timely fashion. Thus the need for and effectiveness of warmed air.
