Marine Corp or U.S Army?
Is it true: you don’t actually pick your job in the marines, and army guarantees your job? I want to learn tactics and skills of a Infantryman or 0311. Im concerned if i go usmc i could possibly end up something else attached to a infantry unit. I MUST – be trained specifically as a Infantryman! Also, does the 0311 and 11b learn basically the same Infantry skills? – I’m a golden gloves boxer, been fighting for 6 1/2 years now, im a nice guy, however these fists are considered illegal and i could go to prison for fighting, will this be a problem? Please, only people with actual military experience. I don’t want to hear some new recruit telling me “join_______ you’ll be more of a bad ass, dude” Not to sound conceited – but im already bad ass! excuse the terrible grammar – im in a hurry.

Yes it is true that in the Marines you do not get to choose your actual job, but rather a field. For Marine infantry there are like 14 specific MOSs under the 03 category. You would get the 03 field in your contract and then based on performance and the needs of the Corps they would choose 1 of the 14 for you. The Army allows you to choose a specific MOS as long as you meet the qualifications for it.
If you fight in the military you will be subject to the UCMJ, which in some cases is harsher then civilian law. Fighting all the time would be a definite problem and eventually get you booted or in jail if you can’t control you temper.
