What is the best Surefire Flashlight for the money?
I’d like to stay under $70, and have it be able to work with one of their Red Filters. That has to be one of these models: E1E, E2E, E2O, E2D, Z2, C2, C3, G2Z, G2, 6P, 9P, M2, U2, M3, 9AN, M3T, M4, M6.
Under $70 can be used as well, so I’m planning on getting it on eBay.

No LED Surefire flashlights work with the Red Filters, and no LED Surefire flashlights have rechargeable batteries. Needless to say, non-rechargeables have many advantages, including longer shelf life (10 years), higher power density, higher unit voltage, lighter weight, better cold-weather performance, and superior voltage maintenance.
Does Surefire make red filters to fit the G2? The G2 and G3 are under $70 and I believe the E1 starts at $129, the super blinding M6 is $425. Also there are G2 and G3 LED versions with much better battery life. The Surefire 2xCR123 incandescent units only last 20min to an 1hr depending on the bulb.
If you plan to use your light daily rechargeable batteries save a lot of money.
Fenix makes single / double AA cell and single / double CR123 cell flashlights that can be purchased between $40-$70 and a red filter for $4.
They all use high-performance Cree or Luxeon LED emitters that last at least 50,000hrs of use. Unlike incandescent bulbs the LED’s are variable in power.
For example a 2xAA Fenix LD20 9-180 lumen light will last: 71hrs/low 13hrs/med 5hrs/high 2hrs/turbo with an S.O.S. and strobe mode. These lights are all regulated so the brightness remains constant until the batteries die.
You can use a number of Ni-MH batteries, keep charging them, and theoretically run that light continuously for 5.7 years
Under extreme conditions the Surefires are definitely constructed better but for most people a good LED light (Streamlight, Olight, Jet-Beam, Nite-Core etc.) is more practical.
