Care Homes for dementia patients in England?
Does anyone know what ratio of carers to patients in these homes? Are they ever checked by any governing body? They apparently have a special licence allowing them to take demmentia patients but is there any ruling to say how many of their staff if any, have to be qualified or have special training to care for these vulnerable people? Is it right that they only have a fire service safety check if they themselves request it?
AMY B. This is CARE HOMES as opposed to NURSING Homes I’m asking about. I think they are under different rules.
All Care homes[which include Nursing and residential] should be registered with the Care Commission.
They decide on what the ratio of client to staff.
All staff need to be trained the Care commission will audit these environments at least once a year on an announced visit but they can do unannounced visits if they think there is a reason for it.
You can complain to the care commission any time.
All care homes should have a copy of the last Care Commission report or you can get this online if you go to Care commission .gov.
50% of staff should be qualified to at least nvq2
