how severe is skin exposure to polyurethane varnish?
i was applying minwax spar urethane varnish while using latex gloves, but the gloves kept disintegrating, leaving my fingers covered in varnish. I went through 10 pairs of gloves in 3 hours. I occasionally washed my hands, but now that im done, theres a layer of varnish on my finger tips and a spot on my arm that won’t wash off no matter how many times i try. things that touch my skin covered in varnsih will stick and very hard to peel off.
will this cause negative health effects for me?
im going to go find some mineral spirits to clean this off my skin.
i couldnt find the mineral spirits, so i used lacquer thinner. it removed the varnish, but now my skin feels tacky.
i dont paint often.
i was using a rag to apply the varnish, so the latex gloves were constantly soaked in it. after a few minutes, the fingers would just stretch and tear off. is there a type of glove that i can use that will not just dissolve in varnish?
yep…just clean it off with spirits…you will be fine.
