Is there such a thing as structural and wildland firefighting? Not together but like in the same department.?
Can there be both structural and wildland firefighting and firefighters in the same department? I know out here that firefighters fight grass fires while wearing structural fire coats and pants. And in another department, firefighters fight structure fires while wearing nomex yellow shirts and green trousers. But can there be a firefighter that is trained in both AND have structure fire equipment along with wildland fire equipment?
YES. i am a smalltown firefighter and we handle both types of firefighting. it is that way in most of my state, even the big cities. we have grassfire units and structure fire units. we have turnout gear for both types of fire. we can handle anything
