What is the best way to clean out damage from leaked batteries in a MagLite torch (5D)?
I have a 5D Maglite torch which some batteries leaked into. I am trying to find out what is the best way to clean the damage out from the inside of the torch.
No damage was to the contact its just a build up of gunk inside the battery compartment.
first up, the battery manufacturer may warranty that the battery will not leak, you may be able to get them to buy you a new MagLight.
second, the mag can be disassembled. get down to all the parts.
You can use any detergent to clean the parts, then using a baking soda wash, scrub all the corrosion areas to kill the oxidation.
rinse in fresh water and allow to dry.
reassemble.
