Top Three Reasons to Take an Arizona Occupational Health and Safety Course
Injuries and illnesses in the workplace occur more often than you may think. That’s why it’s so important to do everything possible to have a safety plan in place. The best way to educate yourself about workplace safety is by taking an OSHA-certified Arizona Occupational Health and Safety Course. These courses teach all the fundamentals of creating a safe work environment.
1. Avoid Employee Injury or Death
Probably the most important reason for taking an AZ health and safety training course is to protect yourself and your employees from injury, illness and death. Workplace hazards include things like slippery floors, sharp objects and lifting heavy objects but also include disasters like fire and medical emergencies. The more prepared you are, the better the outcomes will be.
2. Avoid OSHA Penalties and Fines
Another reason for taking an occupational health and safety course is to learn how to avoid penalties by taking the proper precautions. If an employer is cited for something other than a serious violation (meaning one that has a low probability of resulting in an injury or illness) there is no proposed penalty. However, the violation still has to be corrected. If the violation has a greater probability of resulting in an injury or illness, then a base penalty of $1,000 is used, to which appropriate adjustment factors are applied. Penalties for serious violations (meaning there is substantial probability that death or physical harm can occur) run from $1,500 to $7,000 in extreme cases.
3. Learn How to Implement and Manage a Safety Plan
OSHA has countless rules, regulations and procedures…how can you possibly learn them all on your own? By taking a health and safety course you will learn all the fundamentals of occupational safety and health as well as how to create and manage your own plan. When you do that, everybody wins. You, the company and the employees.
