Is it required by law to have a fire extinguisher?
I was just wondering if, in the state of Illinois, it is required by law to have fire extinguishers in an apartment complex or rental house? It came up in a conversation and I can’t seem to find the answer on line. Does anyone know? And if so, a link to the law. Thanks
This would come under local ordinances for your city regarding rentals. In my city they have to have smoke detectors in all houses and apartments. Apartment complexes have to have extinquishers in common areas such as the lobby and hallways, not in each unit. Check local ordinances.
