What would be a nice Christmas present to give all of the Firefighters’ spouses?
As Board President for our fire district, it’s my job/pleasure to put together a recognition dinner / Christmas party for our fire department. We usually get the firefighters a gift – usually a t-shirt, fleece jacket, hat, pocket tool, etc… something fire department related that they can use. This year, we’ve decided to honor the spouses instead… As a volunteer dept, it is really the spouses, home watching kids and offering support, who give up the most for FF participation.
So, what can we get the spouses?? We have 16 wives and 2 husbands.
We were thinking not clothing – we don’t want to collect their sizes and ruin the surprise.
I’d love if it were fire related somehow. Something to show pride in being a FF spouse. But, in general, I’m open to anything. Just a token to say thank you.
What a wonderful idea and I praise you for thinking of the people who worry everyday if their spouse will return home to them after every fire.
Since most women love jewelry, how about getting a chain with a ladder on it – you can get these made from a reputable jewelry design maker. They can be engraved on the back with the wives names or both the spouse’s name, elegant and tasteful, making the spouse feel proud and it can be worn as dressy or casual – depending how much you want to spend you can have matching ear rings for the women or you can add a few diamonds chips to represent each one of their children
The ladder could represent the ladders on their trucks and – next year you could treat the firefighters with matching chains
you could send me one for all the rungs of success/failures I have climbed – jk
