LED emergency lights are the latest in the evolutionary chain of emergency lights
While halogen lights and strobe lights are still in use, LED emergency lights are more lasting and provide a more focused and brighter light. The only downside is that it has to be recharged after about 6 hours of usage. As far as this can be comfortably managed, these lights are very handy emergency equipment. People are so used to emergency vehicles with their blinking lights, rotating beacons, and screaming sirens, that the present generations may feel that these things are as old as history. Though not so old, these have been around for pretty long. It is a field into which evolving technology has been making inroads at a fast pace, and one example of this is the extensive use of LED emergency lights in emergency vehicles.
However, emergency vehicles are not the only place for LED emergency lights. These lights are used for all types of emergencies that do not require a vehicle to solve them. These lights are the greatest saviors of people when there is power break down due to natural calamities, or when there are even small power cuts during nights. LED emergency lights are vibration resistant and are designed for easy handling, and so can withstand the shocks and rough handling that all emergency equipments are likely to be subjected to.
LED emergency lights combine in them the best of halogen and strobe technologies commonly used for emergency lights before LED technology came into vogue. LED emergency lights are tougher and longer lasting than others, and the light emitted is also more intense, brighter and multicolored. LED is an acronym for light emitting diode, so called because the invention was the result of perceiving that the diodes that are part of radio receivers has the capacity to emit a light when electric current passed through them.
LED emergency lights are favored by many also because its light is directional. Since LED bulbs are directional, that is, light is given in one direction, it lends itself to better focusing, and there is less of wasted light and as such less of wasted energy. The emergency lights can have a beam of light focusing on an area of 20o to the right and 20o to the left horizontally, and 10o up and down vertically. Some emergency lights are so designed that they can be mounted vertically on an object and then they are known as vertical LED emergency lights.
There are also what is known as wide emergency lights, which can project its beam beyond the more common 20o to the right and 20o to the left capacity of LED emergency lights. One of the drawbacks of emergency lights is the need to be frequently recharged so that those who need to use it frequently will also need to charge it frequently. Some users get over this problem by replacing the batteries with larger industrial batteries. Since LED emergency lights are highly durable, most manufacturers give it long warranties as well.
