Electricians, answer me this?
What are good work gloves?
i was looking at the ironclad ones, but does anyone know the best ones that i can buy? also can you tell me what UNCOMMON tools are good tool bag tools?(i am an electrical apprentice in first year, but went to a 2 year trade school (CVCC) with a master electrician and electrical engineer, so i probably know everything a 4 year electrician learns as this is during 3 hours a day for the course of 2 years of high school)
Consider what you are using them for. If they are to be insulation while working with live wires then the best for that is… and if just to keep your hands clean and unharmed by srapes and bangs… For either case the best gloves are the ones you will use. I am a bit old school and rarely use them as I rely on my sense of touch as much or more than my eyes. This is often a problem.
In general you are going to get better with the tools you use often. Rather than buy some tools and then find employment that rarely allows you to use those tools let the work you do dictate the tools you purchase.
Some gloves have thicker leather/better workmanship than others. Some may be cheaper but more flexible and comfortable so you will use them more. Initially it may not make a difference but this is your trade and you want the best tools that you can afford. You don’t want to find out unexpectedly that your cheap gloves have developed a hole you didn’t see or split a seam at the wrong time.
Take your time and look carefully at the cheap ones compared to the more expensive and if you still think you can get quality at a bargin rate then go for it.
