My puppy is not throwing up or no bloody stools, he will not eat or drink and just wants to stay in the house.
I wormed him a month ago because one pup we gave away got sick and the vet said he had round worms from eating their own feces. So I wormed him again today because he was lloking skinnier. He wags his tail, but does not eat or drink. I have been giving him 5 cc of pedialyte every hour and his nose is wet and moist, his ears are not warm and his last bowl movement was not bloody, but I saw white long things in his poop. The other two pups are fine. They have appetites and are drinking. I feed them this diamond puppy food from the feed store which is very healthy for them.
I defer to the response from Twisted Plaything. Good answer. You should expect to see the dead roundworms for the next day or so after deworming. A sign of worms in a pup is an over swollen belly. That isn’t fat it’s bloating caused by the worms. Usually the belly is swollen and firm after eating and pup is eating more than others. Pups normally are dewormed at about 5-6 weeks along with first puppy shot. Pups get 3 sets of shots and deworm. I hope you have taken the pups to a vet and not using over the counter products, especially the shots that can be bought. That is risky at best. Yes, deworming meds can be obtained at store but those do not take care of all the worms pups can have. It’s hooks and whips that are not visible and do a lot of damage. By the time the dog is pooping blood it is critical.
Worms also lower bodies resistance to disease. You have 3 pups that I hope have seen a vet as they must be well over 5-6 wks old from what you indicate. Parvo and other diseases are out there big time. And if the mother dog was not kept vetted then she could have passed problems on to the pups!
I am hoping that this pup is ok. But keep a close eye as a pup can get sick real fast. Push fluids. If any worse and still not eating or drinking tomorrow then get to a vet. Do not try to play vet yourself if you are a responsible pet owner.
