is it safe to paint the under side of my firefighting helmet with automotive grade paint?
i have a friend who has offered to paint th eunder side of my helmet with atomotive garde paints. ive seen helmets painted before and just wondering how safe/flamable this is? i have a cairns 1010.
as a former firefighter i do not recommend that you do this for several reasons – if you should get hurt for some reason and it involves your helmet they could say that (especially if you got burned) that the unauthorized paint had something to do with it. also there is a warrenty on most fire helmet shells and altering in in anyway could void your warranty.
